"STRANGER IN THE MIRROR"

SO MUCH TO TELL, SO LITTLE TIME

Sheesh! What didn't happen this week. Month or whatever.

First and foremost I want to publicly say here and now, I'm not fond of the time changing. Just sayin'. Hey, I'm old and need every available hour I have coming to me. It just isn't fair.

When I was a whole hell of alot younger it never phased me. It actually always brought me closer to, well you know, getting older.  

Getting older was my job when I was young (er).

My mom died when I was 14 and I was shifted from place to place. Who wanted the troubled teenager this week? That was the game we played. Or really that they played.

I always said, I can't wait until I'm 21 and no longer a "problem" to anyone.

Well, funny how that always comes back to bite you in the ass isn't it? Here I am! All "growed" up and not happy so much about that. Sometimes life can be cruel. No?

Alrighty, moving on.

Lisa  died this past weekend. I swear,I didn't know what to do with myself. That is one hard thing about the blogosphere. I wanted to go to everything. Hell, I'm not sure I even knew where she lived. I read her blog faithfully and now, well where is the closure? Oh, I know, I can send food via the blog and flowers and whatnot. I wanted to go and hug those girls. I wanted to let Dude know that his wife was an awesome lady and that I will miss the hell out of her. Sometimes, once again, life can suck.

We soldier on. Right? Life is for the living, blah freakin' dah!

On a happier note.....It is Friday and I have no travel plans. Why is that good news you ask. Um hello, sleeping in! Like Tug always says, o'dark 30 comes around awful early! Just sayin'.

Ok kiddos, you all have a very awesome weekend. Make hay while the sun shines cause we are all going to lose an hour!

PARTING IS SUCH SWEET SORROW

I love living in the city. I love just about everything that goes along with living in the city. There is however, one thing I hate about living here. That would be people moving. Yes, that truly sucks!

Most of my neighbors own their places of residence. There are two buildings that are rentals. I absolutely hate them. No, seriously, I don't think you heard me......I really do hate them. All the training, the noise factor, the garbage detail, what to put where and how to put said things where. It really is stressful and a lot of trouble.Trust me, unless you have lived the dream, it is a nightmare. All that time and energy and then in a heartbeat, they move. How dare them. How could they possibly want to leave our wonderful neighborhood. The alley parties, the Halloween festivities, and all the Christmas functions, where could they possibly go and have this much fun? Who cares that they are engaged, what do we care that they have a much better place to live?

It matters not that they have been here 3 or more years. They are leaving and when they do, it is always en mass. Yes, they all leave at the same time. It is very sad.

I really do not do change well. It is stressful having to break in all new people! It is even harder learning all new names and faces. Forget about trying to figure out who belongs to what car or girl. Yes, it really is work. And it is hard.

I bond with these people. For however many years they live here, we all become friends. Then they leave. Tears are shed, new addresses are exchanged,  and goodbyes are handed out. It is always a sad, sad, day.

There really should be a law. No one is allowed to move, EVAAAA! 

And yet, somehow life does go on!

Anyone remember the old Chicken Little book? C'mon, I can't be the only old fartolder one in the group. Can I? Sheesh, I hope not.

Anywho, that was the first thing I thought of the other night during those awful storms.

Younger daughter and I were out picking up food for the troops. Hey, I am ugly when I don't eat. Well, I could be ugly anyway, let's say I'm uglier when I am hungry.

We had made our first stop, yes, we all like to complicate things by ordering from different places. I know! What a pain. Where was I? Oh, we were out and about and talking and generally not really paying attention to what was going on around us.  The fact that it was early and all of a sudden pitch black dark out, did not faze us in the least. Nope, not one tiny bit. All of a sudden the sirens started and the wind picked up and we were off to the races.

There may or may not have been some bickering about just going home and screw the second food pick up and yada yada. This would be from the chicken younger daughter who thought perhaps we may get swept away and die.

I was having none of it. I wanted my food dammit! To hell with the sirens and torrential rains and god awful lightening. That and I had an umbrella in the car so it was all good. Until, I almost drowned while running in to get said food. The umbrella did not prove to be very useful in 300 80 mile an hour winds. Minor details.

Honestly, I felt like we were in one of those end of the world movies. The car was rocking, lightening, OMFG, the lightening, it was horrific to say the least!

Anywho, we did make it back, enjoyed our wonderful feast and didn't even lose power. It doesn't get much better than that.

Touch Me! I Am Real...

OMG...I am alive and have been real busy. Sorry, sorry, I swear the crap that has been going on around me has been just that.....CRAP.

I am here and I will return soon.

I'm still stalking reading blogs and working.

Not much else...Just D-R-A-M-A!!! This is my life right now. What can I say?

SICKY, SICKY, sort of...

When I got home Friday I was feeling like absolute shit a little punk. Not achy or anything, just not quite right. I don't get sick......evaaa. Do you hear me? I work with sick people all day long and I'm pretty lucky, for the most part.

The problem is, I'm leaving for Florida for 5 days on Wednesday, WTF, now I'm not well. If only I didn't have to breathe. My nose is running like a faucet and the whole breathing through the mouth thingy is really a pain.

Did I mention that I also don't take medicine. No, I'm not holistic or anything, just don't like meds. I figure that things will run their course, in due time. Don't want to be all drugged up.

Do you feel sorry for me yet? I didn't think so. It's all good, I don't feel sorry for me either. This too shall pass.

Moving on.

I was watching the weekend edition of the Today show yesterday and I was shocked at how the interviewers do not let people talk. Well, they let them talk, but they keep interrupting them. I honestly got so annoyed I could no longer watch. I mean c'mon now, let them explain their product, story, or whatever. Shut your mouth, it is not polite to interrupt people. Sheesh, didn't your mothers teach you anything.

It's no secret around here that I read quite a few blogs. I love it, have my favorites, and I would miss any one of you who decided to no longer blog. Are you hearing me Gina? You do not have to blog every single day. I know you are busy, you have a small child, and another writing gig. However, you may not leave, I will miss you. So stick around for awhile, m'kay? Thanks, I knew you would understand.

Alrighty then, enough said. I think I'll go blow my nose some more and watch Amazing Race and Brothers & Sisters.

HERE, THERE, AND EVERYWHERE

OMG....I forgot I have a blog.

No, not really. You do, however know that things are bad when you forget your log on info. That's just wrong.

Been busy. Decorating, shoveling snow, babysitting, shoveling snow, trying to shop, and did I mention the snow shoveling? I thought so.

One of the not so nice things about snow in the city is that there is no place to put it.  You can't snowblow it. It would not make for good neighbors. Therefore one has to use the shovel and carry method. The carry method is not so bad if one didn't have to walk all over the alley to find a final resting place for said snow.

That being said, there was alot of shoveling and walking in circles going on over here.

I still have not finished my shopping. Woe is me. I forever place this burden upon myself of being responsible for everyone elses happiness. I don't know why, don't ask. I'm sure it has to do with some unresolved childhood issue.

I soldier on in an attempt to still find the perfect gift for each person. Why yes, I do need help. What tipped you off?

All in all I'm not that stressed out yet. I mean I still have a few days left. I know it will come to me. You know, the perfect gift.

The tree is up and really, don't ask. That could be a short story. It is up and it will suffice. Nuff said.

I still manage to get some blog stalking reading in here and there.

I'm sure glad to see that not everyone is posting daily. It gives me hope that I'm not the only disorganized one who is busy.

I do hope that everyone else has finished their shopping, decorating, cookie baking, and on and on.

LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE......

There was a segment on the Today Show about "white lies". Those little things that we often say to make another feel better. What? I do believe that a lie is still a lie. We really don't do anyone a favor by lying to them. Or, do we?

For instance, if you knew that your best friend's husband was cheating on her, do you tell her? I don't think I could. Maybe.

If you knew that the boss was planning on firing a coworker, do you warn her? Um, I'm a chicken.

If the new dress that your friend just bought for the big event upcoming looked like crap on her, do you tell her? Yes, in this case I could very easily tell her.

The thing that I would be most guilty of in the lying department would be the lies I tell myself. Oh yeah, I'm real good at it too. Oh yes I am.

The lies I tell myself are really quite believable, for awhile. Eventually I have to face that fact that the truth will always stand.

I'm constantly telling myself that it really doesn't matter what others think. That I'm really not hurt by what someone says to me or what things are done to me. All with the best intentions, I'm sure.

I guess it is sort of like saying that I can't be hurt. I'm too strong for that or better yet, I've been through worse things and I'll be fine.

The truth is that I am waaayy to sensitive for my own good. I don't take criticism very well. It doesn't matter that it should help me. It doesn't. I feel it.

There are other things that go on that I choose to ignore. Oh, he didn't really mean to do that or she didn't really mean to say that.

At the end of the day are you helping or hurting by the little white lie you tell?

That my friends is debatable. At least in my mind.

STILL REMEMBERING YOU....

This is in honor of Gary Lozier. I made a promise to myself last year that I would always put his name out there when I could. I don't want anyone to ever forget that the man has a family that is still trying to go on.

So, here's to you Gary, I will never forget!    

SHOW ME THE MONEY......

What are you worth? No, not your blog, you, the person.

Lately I've been reading quite a few sports articles and I am amazed with a capital Z at the salaries. All of the salaries. The baseball players, basketball stars, football, and on and on. Believe me, it has made me think. A lot.

WTF, I think I could command a great salary with the right organization. Maybe. I haven't tried, but hey, get me an agent and I'll shine.

Unlike the sports figures, who only do one thing well, I am multi-talented. I could be a cook, a dancer, I could do second city, in a pinch. What? I could too. You haven't had the pleasure of my company for more than the 3 seconds it takes to see what I have written for the day. It could happen.

Hey, I save actual lives. Well, almost. OK, I try to anyway. That has to be worth at least as much as the latest baseball superstar just signed for. I am battle ready.

I just don't get it. When did $300,000 become small peas? Hey, I'll take just half of that and be happy.

The players always want more and for what? To whiff the ball, blow the dunk, miss the net, and not make the birdie. What happened to for the love of the game?

When is enough, enough? Is it ever? Who fuels these salary debates? The agents, the players.

If I didn't love me some sports so much I think I would have to boycott all sports.

It has been a busy week.

My awesome neighbors had their baby, c-section, baby girl, many trips back and forth to hospital to see the small wonder. Welcome to the hood Baby Tessa.

My little Maggie had 8 stitches in her head, mishap at pool club.

It has been hotter than hell and then some. Not to mention the humidity, so I won't.

Reading blogs nightly has worn me out. I have added a gazillion since BlogHer, and with all my regulars let's just say that I have a problem. I'm worse than a "blog whore". I would much rather read than write.

Did I mention that it is almost Friday?
